Art I saw and liked at
Zona Maco
an art fair in Mexico City
I recently had the incredible opportunity to visit Mexico City for Zona Maco, Latin America’s premier contemporary art fair, with Fountainhead Arts. This experience was not just about viewing art—it was about engaging deeply with the global creative community, exploring dynamic studio spaces, and witnessing the powerful impact of artists in today’s world.
Zona Maco: A Hub for Contemporary Art
For those unfamiliar, Zona Maco (short for “México Arte Contemporáneo”) is an annual art fair that brings together the best of contemporary art, design, photography, and antiques. Hosted at Centro Citibanamex, it serves as the anchor event of Mexico City Art Week, attracting curators, collectors, and enthusiasts from around the world. The energy was palpable, with each gallery booth offering a new perspective and visual feast.
Why Mexico City is a Must-Visit for Art Lovers
Beyond Zona Maco, Mexico City is a thriving art hub, with world-class museums, street art, and galleries that celebrate both traditional and contemporary artistic expressions. Whether it’s the historic works at Palacio de Bellas Artes, the cutting-edge exhibitions at Museo Jumex, or the colorful murals adorning the city’s walls, art is woven into the very fabric of Mexico City.
Fountainhead Arts: Connecting with the Global Art Community
My journey through Mexico City was made even more meaningful through my connection with Fountainhead Arts. This organization, known for its dedication to supporting artists through its Miami-based residency program, extends its mission beyond borders, creating unique opportunities for members to engage with artists and their work in a personal way. Our studio visits and private tours provided an intimate look at the creative processes of emerging and established artists, further solidifying the importance of supporting and uplifting the art community.
Being part of this experience was nothing short of exhilarating. Connecting with artists, collectors, and fellow art lovers on such a deep level reminded me why I’m so passionate about design and creative expression. Mexico City’s art scene is alive with energy, and I’m grateful to have explored it with Fountainhead Arts.
Looking forward to bringing this inspiration into my work at Phoebe O’Neill Interiors—where art and interiors intersect to create meaningful, beautiful spaces.
